5th Workshop on System-Level Virtualization for High Performance Computing (HPCVirt 2011)
نویسندگان
چکیده
The emergence of virtualization enabled hardware, such as the latest generation AMD and Intel processors, has raised significant interest in High Performance Computing (HPC) community. In particular, system-level virtualization provides an opportunity to advance the design and development of operating systems, programming environments, administration practices, and resource management tools. This leads to some potential research topics for HPC, such as failure tolerance, system resilience, system management, energy saving and solution for application porting to new HPC platforms.

Assessment Methodology for Anomaly-Based Intrusion Detection in Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has become an attractive target for attackers as the mainstream technologies in the cloud, such as the virtualization and multitenancy, permit multiple users to utilize the same physical resource, thereby posing the so-called problem of internal facing security. Moreover, the traditional network-based intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are ineffective to be deployed in the cloud...

Cloud Computing, the long-held dream of computing as a utility, has the potential to transform a large part of the IT industry, making software even more attractive as a service and shaping the way IT hardware is designed and purchased. Virtualization technology forms a key concept for new cloud computing architectures. The data centers are used to provide cloud services burdening a significant...

Virtual machine monitors (VMMs) are now integrated with a variety of operating systems and are moving out of research labs into scientific, educational and operational usage. Modern hypervisors exhibit a low overhead and allow concurrent execution of large numbers of virtual machines, each strongly encapsulated. VMMs can offer a network-wide abstraction layer of individual machine resources, th...

These days everything is shifting to cloud computing. Two of the major types of clouds are infrastructure as a service (IAAS) & Platform as a service (PAAS) cloud. Network engineers and administrators make use of IAAS instead of physical hardware for implementing servers. Software Developers use PAAS for programming purposes. Virtualization is the main base for implementing cloud computing. The...

Linux is widely used on high-performance computing (HPC) systems, from commodity clusters to Cray supercomputers (which run the Cray Linux Environment). These platforms primarily differ in their system configuration: some only use SSH to access compute nodes, whereas others employ full resource management systems (e.g., Torque and ALPS on Cray XT systems). Furthermore, the latest improvements i...
